POST OFFICE BOSSES TO FACE LOCAL ANGER

August 22, 2008 10:24 AM

save poThe Post Office Limited has accepted an invitation from local Lib Dem Parliamentary candidate Stephen Gilbert to send representatives to two public meetings to discuss the proposed closure of Tywardreath and Charlestown Post Office.

Stephen Gilbert said: "I contacted the Post Office and asked them to come down and face local residents and I am pleased that they have accepted. I think it is very difficult for them to get a good impression of the geography of the area or the strength of feeling in the community from behind their desk in Belfast. I hope that the meetings will be a chance for the public to put their concerns direct."

Both meetings will take place on Thursday 28th August, in Charlestown Church at 6pm and Tywardreath Church at 8pm.

If you are a resident of the St Austell and Newquay constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
