Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate Stephen Gilbert has called on everyone involved in the town's Rescue 2010 bid to work together to ensure Newquay doesn't lose the chance to host the prestigious life-saving games.
Stephen Gilbert, who met with the Rescue 2010 team in June with Newquay's MP Dan Rogerson, said:
"It was clear to me when I met the Rescue 2010 team back in June that there was still a huge amount of work to do to make sure that these games actually happened."
Stephen added: "I am now very concerned that recent difficulties may mean Newquay loses the chance to host this prestigious international event and I am calling on everyone involved to come together to resolve the problems and make sure the town doesn't lose out."
Dan Rogerson, the MP for Newquay, added: "The bid team need to sit down with the local authorities and work up a solution to the problems and I am keen to help in any way that I can."
