ST AUSTELL CINEMA: "ONE STEP" CLOSER

October 3, 2008 11:00 AM
St Austell Cinema

The new cinema in St Austell

Commenting on today's "topping-out" of the new White River cinema by owners WTW Cinemas and contractor Sir Robert McAlpine, Stephen Gilbert the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for St Austell, said:

"St Austell is Cornwall's largest town and deserves a town centre that we can all be proud of. The redevelopment has been at times slow and frustrating for local people and traders, but I think there is now a real sense that we have a turned a corner and are in the home straight. It's great that the cinema is on-track and although the finish line is still some way off we are getting closer by the day".

White River Cinema will be the first new purpose-built cinema complex to be constructed for over 70 years in Cornwall and replaces the St Austell Filmcentre which closed its doors for the final time in August 2007.

If you are a resident of the St Austell and Newquay constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
