HALOS: "AUTHORITIES MUST ACT"

November 15, 2008 12:00 PM

HalosSpeaking six-weeks after a Channel 4 documentary revealed that Newquay lap-dancing club Halos was breaching its licensing conditions, Stephen Gilbert, the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for Newquay, has said that the "responsible authorities must act".

The Dispatches documentary was broadcast on Channel 4 on October 6 and showed so-called 'Gentleman's Club' Halos, based on the town's main street, to be breaking its licensing conditions.

Stephen Gilbert said: "It has now been six weeks since the documentary revealed that Halos were breaking the rules and it's time for the responsible authorities to take action."

Since the documentary was broadcast Mr Gilbert has contacted both the police and Restormel Borough Council asking them to investigate and to take action.

Stephen Gilbert added: "It should not be up to residents in Newquay to have to continue to push local authorities into action. The evidence was there for the whole country to see and its time that the responsible authorities behaved responsibly and took action."

If you are a resident of the St Austell and Newquay constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
