ONE TOWN, TWO DAYS, 35 LIB DEMS

March 17, 2009 10:00 AM

Knocking on NewquayOver the weekend of 14 & 15 March, 35 Lib Dem activists joined local candidate Stephen Gilbert in Newquay for the largest action weekend the party in Cornwall has seen for decades.

The team managed to knock on a staggering 7,532 doors over the weekend - nearly the whole town.

The team were joined by the current MP for Newquay, Dan Rogerson, and South West Euro-candidate Kay Barnard.

Stephen Gilbert said: "It was a great weekend. The weather was perfect - perhaps even too sunny. We knocked on almost every door in Newquay, identified around 1,000 new supporters and got 44 new offers from people keen to help the campaign. On top of that one or two of us even managed to stand-up on our surfboards - if not for very long!"

If you are a resident of the St Austell and Newquay constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
