Steve Gilbert has been working with anti-lap dance campaigners for two years.
Liskeard Magistrates' Court yesterday slapped tough new condition on Newquay lap-dance club Divas in what Lib Dem campaigner Steve Gilbert is calling "a real victory for people power and a shot across the bow of other clubs in the town."
The judgement by Magistrates is the culmination of a long-running campaign that Newquay's Parliamentary candidate has been working on with local residents to stop the spread of lap-dancing clubs in Newquay and to make sure they are better regulated.
Steve Gilbert said: "I'm delighted that the Magistrates agreed with me and local residents that the activities in Divas need to be properly regulated both to ensure the safety of the performers and the wider public."
"This judgement should be a real wake-up call to the other lap-dance clubs in the town that they have to get their house in order or face serious consequences. Step-by-step we are beginning to bring an end to the 'anything goes' culture in some of Newquay's clubs and pubs - it's a real victory for people power."
