Steve in St Mawgan
Prospective MP Steve Gilbert has completed his first ever 'travelling surgery' visiting 5 towns, 40 villages and 16 estates in every Parish across the St Austell & Newquay constituency - over 6 full-days, Steve travelled over 450 miles and met over 600 people.
The 'travelling surgery' is a Liberal tradition first started by David Penhaligon in 1974 and continued by Liberal and Liberal Democrat MPs Paul Tyler, Dan Rogerson and Matthew Taylor.
Steve Gilbert, who took a week off work to complete the tour, said, "It was great to be out and about across the area, meeting so many people and hearing what the important issues are in the smaller communities."
Instead of the traditional "yellow caravan" Steve Gilbert used a yellow Peugeot.

Steve added, "The issues people raised with me ranged from speeding on rural roads to drainage, pavement pot-holes to lack of policing. In fact, I've picked up about 300 individual pieces of casework which shows the value of getting out and about."
