HALOS - "RESIDENTS WILL FINALLY GET VOICE"

People in Newquay will be able to have their say over a lap-dancing club on the main street

Newquay's Prospective MP, Steve Gilbert, has welcomed the news that people in Newquay are to get a say in whether they want a lap-dancing club on one of the town's main streets.

Following representations he and others have made, Cornwall Council has asked Halos, the lap-dance club on Bank Street, to submit a new planning application.

Steve Gilbert said, "When Halos became a lap-dancing club they should have applied for a 'change of use' and it should have been debated by the Council's planning committee. That didn't happen and people didn't get the chance to put their view to the Council. Now there will be an opportunity for people to have their say about whether they want a lap-dancing club on one of Newquay's main streets."

Steve Gilbert joined with local residents to raise concerns that Halos was operating outside of the current planning permission for the site. Cornwall Council served a 'Planning Contravention Notice' which has revealed that the operations on the site appear to be outside of the current permissions and has therefore asked the owners to submit a new application.

Halos have until December 16th to submit and application to the Council's planning committee.

If you are a resident of the St Austell and Newquay constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
