Steve Gilbert: "I want to win for the thousands of local people who would be left behind in a Tory Britain."
With the long-awaited General Election now underway, Steve Gilbert, the Liberal Democrat candidate for St Austell & Newquay, said:
"Finally the election that everyone has been waiting for has started. Neither Gordon Brown nor this failed Labour Government can now hide from the judgement of the British people.
"After 13 years of Labour we are back where we started - a Government drenched in scandal, a growing divide between rich and poor, a busted economy and our schools still failing too many of our children.
"Britain needs real change, not simply another changing of the guard. The red-blue see-saw that has so damaged our country must end.
"Across Britain the Liberal Democrats are poised to breakthrough in parts of the country that have never benefited from hard-working local MPs. Here St Austell & Newquay the choice is clear. It's me or the Tory. And I want to win for the thousands of local people who would be left behind in a Tory Britain."
