GILBERT WELCOMES INQUIRY INTO WASTE SHAMBLES

Stephen Gilbert, Liberal Democrat MP for mid-Cornwall, has welcomed the news that Cornwall Council's Economy, Environment and Planning Overview & Scrutiny Committee will be conducting an inquiry into the shambles that has seen thousands of waste collections missed across Cornwall over the last six weeks.

Commenting, Stephen said:

"There is no excuse for the shambles that has dogged Cornish households for the last six weeks. Cornwall Council have serious questions to answer and still have to resolve the remaining problems with the service.

"I'm pleased that the scrutiny committee will be conducting an inquiry and I look forward to seeing that those who are responsible for this shambles are taking responsibility."
