GILBERT WELCOMES EXTRA LOTTERY FUNDING

Big Lottery Fund

Following a Parliamentary debate on National Lottery funding, where the local MP called for additional funding to be directed towards disadvantaged communities, it has been announced that the Big Lottery Fund will be investing £1,000,000 directly into the Par & St Blazey area.

Commenting on the announcement, Local MP Stephen Gilbert said:

"I wasn't expecting the Big Lottery Fund to take my advice quite so quickly, but none-the-less, I welcome the announcement.

"This additional investment, aimed directly at one of the most disadvantaged communities in Cornwall, will make a big difference. Ever since I was a Councillor in St Blazey 10 years ago, I have believed that it's a community that would benefit so much from some extra support and I'm thrilled that the Big Lottery Fund has committed this cash.

"I look forward to working with local people, the local councillors and the fund to ensure this money is spent in the best possible way to give the most back to the local area."
